Designer Tattoos: Part 2

5

Designers, by definition, are all about creativity, visual communication, and self-expression. One of the most common ways designers express themselves is by indelibly declaring their status as Homo Creativus in the medium of ink in skin. Like anyone else, designers’ tattoos are often butterflies, skulls, koi, Tardises, or names, but sometimes the ink is a little more graphic, speaking directly to the art, science, and people of design. Here is the conclusion of the two-part series on designer ink; don’t miss the first part.

Warning: Many Websites that display tattoos also often display images and slogans that are Not Safe For Work.

By the time the wearers turn 50, are any of the icons going to mean anything anymore? And why do so many have reddish, irritated-looking skin around the tats? Oh dear, on so many levels…

  • Pariah Burke says:

The reddish skin appears when the photos were taken immediately after the tattoo artist finished.

As for the viability of the tattoos in the future… Some are indeed short-sighted.
