Calling All Designers: Visit Strathmore.com to See, Learn, Play and Try

Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. has unveiled its new website, www.strathmore.com. Designers, in particular, will appreciate the educational orientation of the site combined with a sense of play and inspiration. A variety of tools and resources, including downloadable design-related templates and paper information, are available now. Designers are also invited to submit client logos to Strathmore’s growing online gallery of identity designs.
The intent
Strathmore.com is part of a larger program that takes a fresh new look at this well-known brand. The website continues the work of Chicago-based VSA Partners, who developed a suite of educational and inspirational print promotions for Strathmore Writing and Script. Both the web and print components explore the reasons why, even in an age that prioritizes text messaging and email, a system of writing papers remains a highly relevant and essential part of any brand’s communications platform.
"Corporate identity should form the spine of any company’s communication program," says Mohawk’s Senior Vice President Communications, Laura Shore. "When you think about it that way, Strathmore papers become central to everything you produce. Taking this expanded role of identity to heart, we developed products that cover the full range of corporate and marketing communications. The new website is a great way to explore the full depth and breadth of the new product line."
Strathmore.com is a contemporary toolset for specifying writing papers, creating identities, and writing well:
Identity development
– Thoughts on identity development ranging from a brand’s voice to color selection.
– Thoughts on writing papers; why they make sense today
Identity design
– Case studies. Features identity challenges of prominent design firms and clients.
– Gallery. Designers are invited to add their client work to the growing Strathmore library which includes logo designs from some of the industry’s best.
Education
– Printing methods: information and education.
– Paper: information on identity papers and recently revamped Strathmore Writing & Script
To reach the broad range of designers (even those with limited access to paper representatives) the site is also a resource for Strathmore’s ongoing promotional campaign, with the intent to create a sense of community, while providing essential information necessary in the specification of paper.
Highlights for designers
Fun
The site includes a tongue-in-check logo generator application (to try this inventive tool, visit: https://www.strathmore.com/index2.html).
Strathmore Gallery now online
In the "submit an identity" section, designers are invited to submit logos and logotypes along with a 250-word description. Designers have an opportunity to post their work alongside some of the top designers in the country.
Useful tools
One of the most practical applications on Strathmore.com is the ability to download templates. Strathmore provides standard envelope specifications and postal guidelines. This comes in the form of downloadable Zip files with design criteria for clear zones, mailability template and envelope construction considerations. Downloadable templates for simple pocket folders are also available.
Navigation
The site is very easy to navigate. Designers are now just one click away from everything they need. A standing menu function on the top of every page allows designers to see where they are at any point.
