2015 ePublishing Event Ready to Launch

BookNet Canada is playing host to the ebook production world with the second installment of its ebookcraft conference. Held in conjunction with their annual Tech Forum—focusing on digital developments in the book publishing industry—the one-day ebookcraft conference will be held in Toronto on March 11, 2015. While little info for the upcoming event has been made available, judging by 2014’s inaugural event, topics will most likely encompass ebook typography, standards, designing for multiple devices, and user experience. The 2014 conference played host to epublishing superstars such as Baldur Bjarnason, Liz Castro, Joshua Tallent, and Liza Daly.

While the schedule and list of speakers won’t be announced until later this fall, the deadline for speaker proposals is September 30th. BookNet Canada has some helpful suggestions on what they’re looking for from speakers and sessions. The sessions at ebookcraft run about 30-45 minutes, in either a seminar-type talk or a workshop, and they point out that the sessions should not be a sales pitch. The conference is billed as “a mix of practical tips and forward-thinking inspiration,” and it sounds like 2015’s event is on track to bring that same medley to the attendees.
